Beaches
Cardigan Bay has been designated the first Marine Heritage Coast in Britain and all the nearby beaches are quiet and clean, with many having won seaside awards or Blue Flags. Local beaches are Penbryn (National Trust), Llangranog, Tresaith and Aberporth. The famous Poppit Sands (Blue Flag) is also within easy reach, as is the resort of New Quay (Harbour Beach is Blue Flag). Surfing and Body Boarding are popular at Mwnt and New Quay.
Pembrokeshire beaches are less rugged, with wide, sandy bays. Newport is worth a visit, as is Broadhaven, Barafundle, Whitesands Bay, Newgale and Freshwater West.
Carmarthen Bay has an amazing variety of seashores from the biggest beaches (Pendine) to beautiful estuaries including the new coastal park and nature reserve near Llanelli. The Gower peninsular in Carmarthenshire is two hours away, but well worth the effort.
